Vasa Museet

leave a comment »

I have dedicated this posting to the Vasa Museet, where the curators have done a marvelous job in perserving the ship, recreating the environment and telling the story of the ship and its recovery – from the bones recovered to the colour of the carvings.  Being the techno-crat that I am and a daughter also into space, I would have enjoy more information – but there was a lot of information and it is world-class.  A job well done.

The Vasa Museet holds the Vasa, a 1628 Swedish Battleship that sunk on its maiden voyage, but it recovery-restoration began in 1961.

Though, I did not explore Stockholm in detail (with 2 days of free time), the 2 must-dos in are > Visit the Vasa and talk a ferry (Emelie) or other boat trip.
